i remember folks posting about this on one of the boards earlier, but can't find it... could someone recommend a good url to find pictures of historical events? say, pictures of white "settler" violence on native americans or the environment in the early days of white invasion of the "new world"? you know... the old black-and-white stuff.
i heard the library of congress has some sort of searchable database of high-res images, but my brain don't know how to make the computer show me it.
any help would make my heart leap like a breaching humpback whale suffused with all the joy of summer.

gettyimages.com has a lot of stuff. There was another that people were talking about before with really specific searches, but I can't remember what it was.

BTW, Marvel's latest paperwork (oh, man, don't get me started) includes an entire file on "reference" and the dangers thereof. When the corporations are this sensitive about cartoonists overly reliant on photo material readily accessible to any shmoe, you know that digging deeper for refence (hhhhmmm, books, maybe?) is essential.

As for the Marvel thingie, I'll be bringing copies in to the next contract session, once school begins. Stick around!

Today, I picked up an extra copy of the definitive Bridgeman anatomy book -- for Schulz Library, folks, and your reference.

you got a url for this "books" thing, steve? I do! libcat.dartmouth.edu/If you need a reference book, look it up and e-mail me the call number. If you e-mail me before 3pm, I can usually check it out and deliver it to you by that evening.
